Whenever someone asks about our daughter’s dairy allergy, they begin asking if she drinks alternative milks, such as almond milk or coconut milk. My husband always jokes, “How do you milk an almond?!” So one day I asked him, “Well, how do you milk a coconut?” And thus, Lactating Coconuts was born!
Join me as we navigate this life of learning how to manage our daughter’s many allergies. We’re talking dairy, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, and even corn. Pet dander and dust mites round out the list. It has been a whirlwind, and so far we’ve only been adding allergens, but with the help of sublingual immunotherapy, we’re hopeful that soon our list will start decreasing!
Our daughter’s diagnosis was overwhelming. I felt like I had turned to every corner of the internet trying to find help, but the resources were very limited. There didn’t seem to be a place that had everything I needed: ideas, tips, and encouragement for dealing with allergies in our everyday lives. That’s what I hope to make this place for others.
